Case Study: How we grew organic clicks and AI search visibility for a swimwear eCommerce store
This ecommerce SEO case study shows how we helped an online swimwear store grow in Google and build measurable visibility in AI-powered search. Over the tracked period, the store reached 49.7K organic clicks and 4.38M impressions, while its appearances in Google AI Overviews grew from 19 to 376 (+1,879%).
The project began with an analysis of the website’s organic performance, technical foundation, keyword coverage, competitors, content structure and AI search presence, including a full technical SEO audit.
Based on this research, we built a long-term strategy around four connected areas:
Based on this research, we built a long-term strategy around four connected areas:
- Technical SEO
- Keyword research and competitor analysis
- Content and semantic optimization
- GEO/AEO and AI search visibility
Classic search engine optimization stayed the foundation, while answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) extended the same work into AI-driven search.

Client Background
Swimwear is a seasonal and highly competitive niche. Large fashion marketplaces and brand stores fight for the same product, style and size queries, so fashion ecommerce SEO here depends on strong category pages, clear product data and content that answers real buyer questions.
At the same time, shoppers increasingly ask AI assistants what to buy: which swimsuit fits a body type, which fabric lasts longer, what to pack for a beach vacation. The client wanted to be present in both places: classic Google results and AI-generated answers.
SEO & AI Search Optimization Work
Technical SEO Foundation
We regularly audited the website to find issues affecting crawling, indexing, organic visibility and content discovery:
- Crawling and indexing analysis
- Google Search Console monitoring
- Site architecture improvements
- Internal linking optimization
- On-page SEO improvements
- Schema markup and structured data
Technical SEO was not a one-time checklist. We monitored the site continuously and fixed issues in order of their impact on organic performance, which gave a stable base for content growth and AI search optimization.
Keyword Research & Competitor Analysis
We used keyword and competitor data to expand the website beyond its existing organic footprint:
- Search intent analysis
- Content gap research
- Commercial and informational keyword opportunities
- Existing page performance analysis
Existing pages were optimized around relevant intent, and new opportunities went into the content plan. Instead of chasing single keywords, we built topical coverage and semantic connections between related pages.
Content & On-Page SEO
Our content writing team optimized existing pages for both Google and AI search:
- Search intent optimization and semantic SEO
- Content restructuring with a clear heading hierarchy
- Question-based content and FAQ sections
- Direct-answer formatting
- Structured data that supports rich snippets in search results
As a result, key information became easy to find for users and easy to interpret for search engines and AI systems.
GEO & AEO Optimization
Google rankings were only one part of the project. To put the difference between GEO and SEO simply: SEO helps a page rank, GEO helps it get cited inside the answer.
As part of our AI SEO services, we optimized the site for Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. On top of the content work, this included:
- AI-ready content structures for priority pages
- AI Overview optimization
- Clear topic and entity relationships
- Contextual internal linking between related answers
- AI search visibility tracking, separate from keyword rankings
